I knew I could not afford a home without the help of Habitat. I’m raising my six-year-old great-grandson who is autistic. We were living on the second floor in an apartment complex. I have osteoarthritis in my knees and hips and degenerative disk disease affecting my back and neck. These health issues make it extremely difficult for me to climb up and down stairs after an energetic six-year-old. Because of that, Wesley rarely got to go outside to the playground which is his favorite thing to do.
Now Wesley has a fenced in backyard to play in for the first time in six years. He loves it and can often be found outside now, safely enjoying the yard! It’s wonderful to walk out on the porch and be able to see all around you and walk around the house and know that it’s mine. It’s a blessing that I am deeply grateful for.
